  • Snowmobilers are required to obtain a registration permit from each state crossed.
  • Insects are known to carry Eastern Equine Encephalitis, Lyme Disease and West Nile Virus.
  • Locally heard, "notch" refers to a gap between mountain peaks.
  • "So don't I" is said in agreement contrary to the words by locals.
  • Has no general sales tax or income tax. However, they do impose taxes on: business, investments, lodging, meals, tolls and vehicles.
  • Only state that does not require adults to wear vehicle seat belts or mandate a helmet.
  • Early autumn and summer you'll find Sugaring Off Open Houses (sap collected from sugar maple trees in sap cabins).
  • Fall Foliage peaks around mid October.
