Good to Know
  • Amtrak stops daily in Reno and Truckee.
  • Beware of Heat Strokes, symptoms include: confusion, dizziness, fast/strong pulse, headache, high body temperature, nausea, passing out and skin changes (damp, dry, hot or red).
  • Lodging Tax Rate varies between 12%-13%.
  • Beware of poisonous black widow spiders, scorpions and snakes.
  • Nevada Law prohibits "chips" to be used for anything other than gambling.
  • High altitude will cause fatigue and intoxican faster than normal.
  • Rules often vary between casinos.
  • There's no "Last Call" as bars are permitted to be open 24 hours. Alcohol is also sold 24 hours in convenience stores, liquor stores and supermarkets.
  • "The Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act" (smoking ban) does not apply to bars serving food, brothels, certain hotel rooms, large casinos and tobacco shops.
