  • Only state to consist of two peninsulas: Lower Peninsula (mitten shape) consists of a majority of lakes, flats to hills while the Upper Peninsula ("the U.P.") consists of forest and wetland areas. 
  • Majority of ski resorts are located in the Upper Peninsula area.

Founded in 1780, situated on Lake Huron, between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas boasts relaxation and romance.
